Central Park Library in Santa Clara was evacuated Tuesday while police responded to a report of a suspicious device.
At about 1 p.m., a library employee found a suspicious device inside the library at 2635 Homestead Road, according to Santa Clara police.
A Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office bomb squad also responded to the scene and determined the object to be fake with no explosive material, according to police. The scene was cleared by 5:10 p.m.
The library closed for the day, officials said.
Police said the nearby schools, community center and swim center were not impacted, but they did not provide further information about the reason for their response.
No other information was immediately available.
