Driver Survives Collision with Train

Crash delays train traffic throughout system

A Caltrain struck a vehicle at a crossing in San Jose Thursday morning, injuring the driver and causing service disruptions.

The collision happened at about 6:50 a.m. when northbound Caltrain No. 217 crashed into a car at a crossing near the Blossom Hill station, a customer service operator said.

A 28-year-old woman inside the vehicle survived and was taken to a hospital.

Passengers on the train were taken by bus to San Jose's Diridon station.

Two trains scheduled to leave Gilroy at 6:30 a.m. and 7:05 a.m. were canceled and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority set up a  bus bridge to carry those passengers to San Jose, the operator said.

The operator said southbound service may also have been disrupted.
