Aftershocks Follow 3.5M Earthquake South of Gilroy: USGS

A 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck Thursday morning south of Gilroy, according to the United States Geological Survey. The temblor initially was reported as a 3.8 magnitude.

The quake hit at 9:15 a.m. and was centered about 15 miles south of Gilroy and about 2.5 miles south of San Juan Bautista , the USGS said.

A 3.3 magnitude aftershock followed at around 11:21 a.m., according to the USGS.

And the latest aftershock, a 2.5 magnitude one, was recorded at 12:09 p.m. in the same area.

No other information was immediately available.
