At Least 1 Dead in Collision on WB I-80 in Berkeley

All lanes of westbound Interstate Highway 80 near Gilman Street in Berkeley are now open following a fatal traffic collision early Wednesday morning.

At least one person, identified as 25-year-old Zakiya Oliver from Vallejo, died and multiple lanes were initially blocked following the collision, which was reported at 5:22 a.m. just east of Gilman Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fiery multi-car crash caused a backup for a few miles on Highway 80 early Christmas morning.
