Cooking Mishap Causes Apartment Fire in Brisbane

A cooking mishap caused a fire that displaced two people and damaged apartments at a complex in Brisbane early Monday morning, according to the North County Fire Authority.

Firefighters responded at 2:37 a.m. to the blaze reported on the second floor of a third-story apartment building at 34 Visitacion Ave.

Crews arrived and found smoke and flames coming from the kitchen of a unit, with fire extending through the wall and into two apartments directly above it and onto the roof, according to the fire authority.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze without any injuries reported. The American Red Cross assisted the two displaced residents with housing assistance.

No other information about the fire was immediately available from the North County Fire Authority, which serves the cities of Brisbane, Daly City and Pacifica.
