Football Star Accused of Revenge Porn Surrenders, Posts Bail

The star football player at the center of a South Bay "revenge porn" case surrendered to authorities Monday morning.

In a story NBC Bay Area's Investigative Unit broke last month, San Jose native Maurice Washington, a freshman running back at the University of Nebraska faces charges related to a video he sent to his ex-girlfriend last year.

She says the video shows her being sexually assaulted by two former classmates.

Washington is not in the video and did not record it, but he faces a misdemeanor charge under California’s revenge porn law for allegedly sending the video to inflict emotional harm.

Washington also faces a felony child pornography charge because the victim was 15 when the video was recorded.

Washington and his ex-girlfriend attended King's Academy in Sunnyvale.

Washington posted bail and is due back in court next month.
