Fresno Woman Accused of $80K Craigslist Scam

Police say a Fresno woman conned 60 people in a scheme involving the popular Craigslist Web site.

Authorities say 32-year-old Olga Domingo was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of 20 felony counts, including grand theft and writing fictitious checks.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said Thursday the scam began with someone in Nigeria identifying a person selling an item on Craigslist. He said Domingo would arrange to buy the item but send a bad check made out for thousands too much.

The chief said Sellers who contacted Domingo were told to keep about $100 for their trouble and wire the rest back.

Police say nearly 1,500 fake checks went out and 60 people returned a total of $79,000, of which $65,000 went back to Nigeria.
