Golden State Warriors fan were saddened by the team's loss Monday to open up the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
But for the Whittemore family of Mill Valley, the game at Oracle Arena in Oakland was a chance to see their beloved Warriors together as a family for the first and last time.
Scott Whittemore is suffering from a brain tumor and has just a couple months to live.
"I didn't have any hope of seeing a Warriors game prior to this game, so it's really good," he said.
His daughter, Hannah Whittemore, put the special night together with the help of a GoFundMe site and ticket outlet GameTime.
"It definitely gives dad energy and we feed off of him," Hannah Whittemore said. "So they've been really helpful in that sense."
Wife Hiaki Whittemore said her husband has never complained about his medical condition.

"All he ever wanted to do was go to see the Warriors," she said.
While the family event did not end in a win for the Warriors, they left with memories to keep forever.
And Scott Whittemore said to not worry about the Warriors, who he claims has the series in the bag.
"Warriors in six games," he said.
