An Oakland man is facing the possibility of life in prison after he pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of transporting a minor for prostitution, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Eugene Latrell McNeely, also known as Sleepy or Slim Sleep da Mac, pleaded guilty in the Oakland courtroom of U.S. District Judge James Donato, justice department officials announced Friday.
McNeely, 36, admitted that on October 3, 2015, he drove from Oakland to Salem, Oregon to pick up a 14-year-old girl with whom he had been interacting via text messages and Facebook, according to federal prosecutors.
McNeely drove the girl back to Oakland, where he forced her into prostitution for about three months, according to his indictment, which charges him with one count of transportation of a minor for prostitution, one count of sex trafficking of children and two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.
He pleaded guilty to the first count, which carries a possible life sentence, a minimum of 10 years imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine but the other three charges are still pending, prosecutors said.
McNeely is in custody awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for Oct. 16.
