San Francisco Water Main Break Stops Traffic

A “major” water main break stopped traffic on Bryant between Division and Alameda streets in San Francisco Thursday morning, fire officials said.

Aerial images from NBC Bay Area’s chopper showed water flooding the streets in the City's Potrero Hill neighborhood.

The call came in at 8:45am, according to the San Francisco fire officials.

San Francisco Public Utilities spokesman Tyrone Jue said the burst pipe is believed to be part of the high-pressure emergency firefighter water supply system.

The street was closed to traffic, as water flooded the roadway, Jue said.

No SFPUC customers were affected by the break,  according to SFPUC's Jean Walsh.

Muni service was affected by the road closure on the 27-Bryant and 9-San Bruno lines.
