A preliminary 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck northeast of Alum Rock, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The rattling was reported at around 5:43 a.m. and it was felt in Milpitas, San Jose, Seven Trees and Santa Clara.
No damages have been reported.
