A Gilroy high school student was arrested Wednesday after stabbing another student during a fight, police said.
The stabbing happened just before noon in the boys' locker room at Christopher High School, according to police.
Police said two male students got into a fight in the locker room. One of the students then pulled out a knife and stabbed the other student.
"You just hear a big commotion and I just see a kid laying on the floor and bleeding out," student Stetton Van Deren said. "Everyone's just circling around and then they haul him off."
The student who was stabbed was treated at the scene and later taken to a local hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said a school resource officer on campus and other staff detained the suspect before he was arrested and taken to juvenile hall.
Local
The school was placed on lockdown for roughly one hour as authorities investigated the stabbing, according to police.
Police said there was no ongoing threat to students or staff.
