A teenager who lost control of an SUV on a Florida highway Saturday, seriously injuring himself and five others, has been charged with careless driving and driving without a license, NBC News reported.
The 14-year-old was allegedly driving a Ford Explorer Saturday night near Tampa when he "over-corrected" on an aborted lane change, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement.
The driver, his mother, a man and three children were all listed as being seriously injured, and a friend of the driver received minor injuries, authorities said.
It wasn't immediately clear why the teenager was behind the wheel. Florida grants learner's permits to children as young as 15.
