Desert Charmer: The Inn at Death Valley Reopens

The hotel, which is located within the national park, redebuted following a renovation exactly 91 years after its opening.

The 66-room inn is part of The Oasis at Death Valley, which includes The Ranch at Death Valley. Recent updates and renovations to the inn include paintings that are reminiscent of when the inn first opened, detailed updates to the rooms, and brand-new bathrooms, too.

The temperature at the inn's pretty pool, which boasts views of both the stone-filled historic structure and sunsets over the Panamint Mountains? It's always 85 degrees, and, yes, it's spring-fed, making it a true oasis in the desert.

New casitas are due in July 2018, some 22 in all, while a new spa, one that's near the Oasis Gardens, is also a fresh feature. There are more outdoor spaces to explore, like the arch-lovely Mission Gardens area.

The hotel, which is overseen by the Xanterra Travel Collection, will celebrate its first 100 years in less than a decade. A "renaissance" of renovations, though, have both provided updates to the property while enhancing much of its vintage elegance. A little too chilly near the coast? It's likely warm in Death Valley, even in winter, though do bring a sweater to sit by the pool fireplace on cooler nights.
