DNA Tests Confirm Kidnap Suspect Is Father of Freed 6-Year-Old

Preliminary DNA test results confirmed that Cleveland kidnapping suspect Ariel Castro is the father of the 6-year-old girl born in captivity to one of the three women held for a decade, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced. He said that Castro’s DNA did not match other unsolved Ohio cases and the FBI is still checking Castro’s DNA against cases elsewhere in the country, NBC News reported. The 52-year-old former bus driver is charged with four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape and is being held on $8 million bond. Authorities have said the 6-year-old rescued from Castro's home is the daughter of Amanda Berry, who broke through Castro's front door with a neighbor's help and called police.
