Carlos Hyde Not Expected to Play Vs Buccaneers

SANTA CLARA – Running back Carlos Hyde remained out of 49ers practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury and is not expected to be available for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hyde was seen with his right arm in a sling again on Wednesday. While his teammates went to the practice field, Hyde entered the team’s weight room.

“He’s not going to go,” 49ers coach Chip Kelly said before practice. “We’ll monitor him during the week, but it would be a stretch for him to play this week.”

Hyde ranks as the NFL's No. 11 rusher with 429 yards and six touchdowns on 109 rushing attempts.

Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn are the only other running backs on the 49ers’ 53-man roster. The club would likely activate DuJuan Harris on Saturday to be available for the game. Harris is currently on the 49ers’ 10-man practice squad.

Davis, a second-year pro, has appeared in 12 career games. He has rushed 45 times for 76 yards (1.7-yard average) in his career. Last week, he moved ahead of Draughn on the depth chart to be Hyde’s backup.

Draughn, a fifth-year player, has 588 career rushing yards on 177 attempts for a 3.3 average.

Harris has appeared in 23 games over four seasons. He has rushed for 452 yards on 107 carries for a 4.2 average.
