Born and raised in Wilmington, Del., Elena Delle Donne led her high school team to three straight Delaware State Championships, becoming the No. 1 ranked recruit in the nation in the process. Delle Donne originally enrolled in the University of Connecticut, but dropped out after just two days. Later, her brother revealed Delle Donne left school to be closer to her sister who is blind, deaf and suffers from cerebral palsy. The 6-foot-5 star then enrolled in the University of Delaware where became the first player in school history to earn All-American honors. Delle Donne – the second overall pick of the 2013 WNBA Draft – was named 2015 WNBA MVP.
