MLB Rumors: Giants Might Not Wait on Trades If They Get ‘good Return'

Are the Giants buying or selling ahead of the July 31 trade deadline? No one knows at this point. Probably not even president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi.

Thanks to the hot streak that came out of nowhere, the Giants have put Zaidi between a rock and a hard place.

Does he trade Madison Bumgarner, Will Smith, Sam Dyson and Tony Watson like he had planned all along and risk alienating the clubhouse and the fan base?

Or does put the future of the franchise at risk by holding on to his trade chips and going for an NL Wild Card spot?

With the Giants playing well, Zaidi might not pick a route for another five or six days.

But's Mark Feinsand, citing a source close to the Giants, reported Monday that a good offer could change Zaidi's mind.

The Giants are 14-3 in July and sit 2 1/2 out of the second NL Wild Card spot. If Zaidi is intent on selling Bumgarner, Smith and the other relievers, he can set a high price and tell interested teams to meet the price. If it's an offer Zaidi can't refuse, he has to do it and worry about justifying it later.
