On Thursday morning, the Kings announced they had extended the contract of general manager Vlade Divac through the 2022-23 season.
With his future in the organization secure, Divac reportedly is planning to fire head coach Dave Joerger in a "face-to-face meeting," ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Joerger led the Kings to a 39-43 record this past season, and his fate rests solely in the hands of Divac, The Athletic's Sam Amick reported Thursday, citing sources.
According to Amick, owner Vivek Ranadive "made it clear" that Divac will have the final say on Joerger's future with the team as the team's top basketball executive, and it appears he has made his decision.
Divac also reportedly met with assistant general manager Brandon Williams on Thursday, and informed him that he will not return to the team, Amick reported, citing sources.

After a promising start to the season, the Kings lost 17 of their final 26 games to fall out of playoff contention. The final two losses to a shorthanded New Orleans Pelicans team and a blown 28-point lead to the Portland Trail Blazers reportedly have made Joerger's status all the more uncertain, according to Amick.
