Sharks Vs. Islanders Lineups: Projected Lines, Pairings for Monday Matinee

The Sharks are looking to extend their success on the road as they face the New York Islanders in a matinee Monday. San Jose put on a strong performance Friday night, outlasting the Los Angeles Kings in a 3-2 overtime win at Staples Center. In that matchup, forward Kevin Labanc found the back of the net in as the minutes in OT wound down to seal the victory, the Sharks' first of the 2018-19 campaign.

San Jose received rough news over the weekend when Joe Thornton left the road trip. Head coach Peter Deboer told the Mercury News that Thornton experienced swelling in his surgically-repaired knee following the win on Friday, and stayed back in California as a precaution. Center Dylan Gambrell was recalled from the AHL Barracuda as the Sharks continue their roadie.

The Islanders also enter Monday's game with a 1-1-0 record after defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 in overtime in their season opener, then falling to the Nashville Predators 4-3 on Saturday.

This is the first of two meetings this season between the Sharks and the Isles, and the first time San Jose has seen the Eastern Conference squad since John Tavares left New York for Toronto in free agency. The Sharks dropped both contests against the Islanders last season.
