Source: Keith McGill to See Specialist After Injuring Foot During Raiders Practice

NAPA – Raiders safety Keith McGill suffered a foot injury in Saturday's practice and will see a specialist to determine the next course of action, according to a league source.

Surgery is a likely outcome for a player counted on for defensive depth and leadership on special teams. The Raiders are expected to be without McGill for a long stretch of time likely into the regular season, which will be sent back and both of those areas.

McGill was seen on crutches leaving the team's training camp locker room following the injury sustained during a practice without pads. McGill, typically a second-unit player, was running with the first team when it happened.

The fourth-year veteran struggled to find a home on defense, moving from cornerback to safety. He has stood out on special teams, especially in coverage.

The Raiders are already light at safety, with second-round pick Obi Melifonwu sidelined the last few days with an undisclosed injury.
