Jesse Eisenberg will be following in the footsteps of his "Social Network" co-star Armie Hammer, who played both of the Winklevi Twins.

Eisenberg has been cast in the lead role of Richard Ayoade's adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella, "The Double," reported Vulture, in which he'd play two identical characters, one seemingly out to destroy the other.

The book, published in 1846, tells the story of a Petersburg bureaucrat who starts to go mad when he finds that his new colleague is an exact replica of himself, and comes to believe the man is trying to replace him both at work and in social circles. If you're having a slow day at work, you can read the whole thing here, it's pretty short.

Ayoade, best known for his role on "The IT Crowd," earlier this year released his first feature film, "Submarine," a hilarious and sweet coming of age comedy about a teenager desperate to achieve two goals before his 16th birthday: lose his virginity and save his parents' marriage.

Most recently, Ayoade directed the brilliant episode of "Community" in which the gang recreates "Pulp Fiction" for Abed's birthday, but Abed can't make it because he's busy recreating "My Dinner With Andre."
