Multiple life sentences possible

Phillip Craig Garrido, 58, and his wife Nancy Garrido, 55, were charged Friday with 29 felonies, including  kidnapping, rape and false imprisonment in the kidnapping of then 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard.

The Garridos were charged in the El Dorado Superior Court with multiple counts of forcible abduction, forcible rape, sexual assault and false imprisonment in connection with Dugard's disappearance. They both pleaded not guilty.

The complaint states, "Phillip Greg Garrido and Nancy Garrido had substanital sexual conduct with Jane Doe."

If convicted of the charges, they could each face multiple life sentences.
