The San Francisco 49ers may not have a financial plan in place to build a South Bay stadium but that isn't stopping the team from selling season tickets for it.
The team has received approval from the Santa Clara City Council to hire a New Jersey-based marketing firm to sell season tickets for the 49ers' new stadium, which isn't expected to open until 2015.
The news comes a day after the team held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open a new parking garage that can be used for the stadium when it opens.
Legends Hospitality will sells the season tickets for the team. The company has already sold $138 million in suites.
Portions of the sales will go towards the $987 million cost of the stadium
