A Danville teen is in the hospital Monday after a tunnel he was digging with a friend collapsed, burying him alive and almost killing him. NBC Bay Area's George Kiriyama talks with a man who helped in the rescue to save the boys.

He and a friend were apparently digging a tunnel about six feet deep when it collapsed. He was underground, in the collapsed tunnel, for several minutes before rescuers could get to him.

The teen is in critical condition at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Doctors have sedated him while they try to clean the sand out of his system.
