Oakland police arrested four people for a variety of crimes including assaults on police officers during the protests that occurred in Oakland late Sunday, police said.
Also, officers issued 17 citations for a variety of violations.
As of 11:09 p.m., police said there was no protest activity in the city.
Earlier Sunday night, demonstrators shut down the Fruitvale BART station, which reopened about 10:20 p.m., according to BART officials. Oakland police facilitated the march to the station from downtown Oakland, said police spokeswoman Johnna Watson.
About 7 p.m. demonstrators gathered at Frank Ogawa Plaza and started marching through the streets of Oakland at about 7:30 p.m., police said.
Oakland police responded to the march and maintained visibility, Watson said.
The march was part of the many across the Bay Area to mark the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday.

According to a Facebook page advertising the event, the demonstrators were protesting police tactics.
