Hannah Anderson Found Safe, Suspect Killed in Idaho

San Diego Sheriff's Department says 16-year-old Hannah Anderson found safe in Idaho.

San Diego Sheriff Bill Gore said kidnap suspect James DiMaggio was shot and killed.

Hannah Anderson was successfully rescued and "appears to be in good shape," according to Gore.

The news broke at a 5:25 p.m. press briefing in San Diego.

The San Diego County Sheriff announced to the shock of nearly everyone there that the search for Hannah was over.

Officials said DiMaggio was shot by FBI agents in the wilderness and Hannah was safely recovered and taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out.

All day Saturday, officials meticulously searched the rugged, backcountry terrain near Cascade and Morehead Lake for missing the San Diego teen and kidnapping suspect James Lee DiMaggio.

Gore said Hannah's father had been contacted and was on his way to Idaho to be reunited with his daughter.
