Man ran off, hopped fence during transfer

Residents in a Napa, California neighborhood are on edge as authorities scour the area for a mental patient who ran away from the Napa State Hospital during a group outdoor session Wednesday afternoon.

Abraham Seri, 24,took off and hopped a fence while the group was being transferred from one part of the facility to another. He was last seen walking toward the 7-Eleven on Imola Avenue in Napa around 1:30 p.m., hospital officials said.

Seri is black, 6 feet 3 inches tall and 250 pounds. He has short curly hair, a moustache and is cross-eyed, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said. He was last seen wearing jeans and a green shirt.

Neighbors in the area have been worried ever since word of Seri's escape. A grandmother told NBC Bay Area that she bought a whistle to carry around her neck when she found out about the escape.

The Napa County Sheriff's Office, Napa police and Napa State Hospital police are looking for Seri.

Anyone who sees Seri is asked not to approach him, but to call law enforcement. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to call 707-253-4451.
