Pinole Police Investigate Report of Child Kidnap Attempt

Police are searching for a male suspect who reportedly attempted to kidnap a 12-year-old girl on Friday afternoon in Pinole.

At about 4:15 p.m., police received a call from the parents of a 12-year-old girl who reported being the victim of an attempted kidnapping.

According to police, the girl was walking in the 1100 block of Appian Way on her way home from school at about 2:30 p.m. when a male suspect approached her.

The suspect was leaning against the trunk of a silver four-door vehicle parked in a driveway and asked the girl if she wanted a ride.

The victim told him that she did not want a ride. The suspect then grabbed the girl's wrist, police said.

The girl pulled her arm away and ran home. She did not suffer any physical injuries, police said. The victim told police the suspect is a white man about 19 or 20 years old, standing about 6 feet tall with a thin build.

The man is described as having slicked-down short black hair, with a brown goatee and a piercing in his right eyebrow, police said.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans, and black work-type boots, according to police. Anyone with information is urged to contact Pinole police at (510) 724-8950.
