A 30-year-old San Jose man is expected to be charged Friday with the May beating of a Salinas man at a restaurant, apparently for no reason, police said.

Kevin Dixson, a delivery truck driver was arrested Wednesday on a felony battery charge and a probation violation after people recognized his face from restaurant surveillance photos distributed to news outlets after the beating.

Police said Dixson attacked a victim with no apparent provocation on May 6 inside a restaurant in the 5000 block of Almaden Expressway about 2:30 a.m. While Dixson didn't use a weapon, the victim was beaten unconscious. However, he has since been treated and released, police said.

Police did not release any information on a possible motive.
