Santa Rosa Biker Dies in Custody After Traffic Stop

A Santa Rosa man died in police custody Sunday after police tried to stop him for a traffic violation while he was riding his bike.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, had been riding a bike near Sucher Lane and Nordyke Avenue around 1 a.m.

When police tried to stop him, the man kept pedaling, and after a short chase, the man struggled with police.

He was taken into custody, and then suffered what's being called a medical emergency.

Police gave him CPR and took him to a hospital, where he died.
