With only five days left, and not enough surf, officials with the Maverick's competition say it is very unlikely the contest will happen.

“Chances are very slim,” said Kylie Heintz, spokeswoman for the competition, told the Examiner. “The lack of swell would be the reason.”

The Maverick's invites 24 surfers to compete in a one day competition, with the winner taking home $150,00 and bragging rights.

This isn't the first time the event has been can celled due to lack of waves. It was also canned in 2007 and 2009.
