Police on Sunday arrested an elderly man suspected of trying to place a hidden camera in a University of California, Berkeley restroom stall.

The alleged peeping Tom has been identified as Richard Anderson, 71, university police said.

A 49-year-old victim said that a hand with a smartphone reached under his bathroom stall around 4:50 p.m. Sunday. He yelled and left, but reported the incident to an employee of the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union building who called 911, police said.

Responding officers located Anderson in possession of a smartphone and drill, with which he had created a hole into the wall of a restroom.

Anderson has been charged with vandalism and invasion of privacy, police said, urging other victims to come forward.
