Woman Killed, Man Injured in Martinez Shooting

A woman was killed and a man was injured in a shooting in Martinez on Friday night, a police sergeant said Saturday.

Officers responded to a report of a female shot in the 1900 block of Boynton Avenue around 9:30 p.m., Martinez police Detective Sgt. Dave Mathers said.

Arriving officers found an 18-year-old woman and 25-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, Mathers said.

Emergency crews also responded and rendered aid to both victims, he said.

The woman, later identified as Judith Lee-Rene Bean, was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

The man was transported to a hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, according to Mathers.

Bean died at the same age and day as her older brother Eric bean, according to a source who is not authorized to speak for the family.

Bean was killed in 2009 and the men behind the attack were caught and sentenced to prison.
