NBC Sports affiliate Pro Football Talk is reporting that current 49ers VP of Player Personnel, Trent Baalke, is considered a lock for the Niners vacant G.M. job.

PFT’s Mike Florio writing: “With a search that some league insiders consider to be window dressing aimed at creating the impression of due diligence (and Rooney Rule compliance), the Niners are believed to be focused on elevating Baalke into the vacant G.M. job.”

Former Rams VP of Player Personnel, Tony Softli, who spent the last four years in St. Louis before being fired in June was interviewed by 49ers President Jed York on Tuesday in the Bay Area.

Former Broncos G.M. Ted Sundquist is also expected to interview with San Francisco this week.
