January Apple Event Could End the Tablet Mystery

Anything Google can do Apple can do better, or at least it will try.

A day after all but announcing it will hold a press conference next week to unveil the new Google phone, word is that Apple has rented the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at the end of January for "several days."

Both Apple and the YBCA declined to comment to the Financial Times. But speculation is Steve Jobs will finally unveil more than himself and introduce the world to the long awaited Apple Tablet

The timing of the event would fall in line with earlier reports that Apple would begin to sell the tablet next spring. But the space is rented for several days, which leads some to believe that Jobs may have something else hidden under his black sleeve. Could it be the announcement of Apple's rumored television service?

Apple last used the YBCA in September, when Jobs first public appearance since a liver transplant overshadowed the introduction of new iPods.
