Mother Nature has made Christmas come a little early to ski lovers in Lake Tahoe this Holiday Season.
The North Shore welcomed more than a foot of new snow over the weekend at the resorts' higher elevations after storms the last several days.
"Making fresh tracks was the mantra this morning," said Andy Chapman, tourism director of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. "Almost every car headed through our towns and resorts was loaded with skis and boards and snow enthusiasts eager to take advantage of the great conditions."
Chapman said the variety of terrain and lifts open made a difference too.
North Lake Tahoe has the largest concentration of ski resorts in the country, according to the association.
Alpine Meadows, Boreal Mountain Resort, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Squaw Valley USA, Sugar Bowl, Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area, Tahoe Donner Cross Country, Mt. Rose – Ski Tahoe, Tahoe Donner Downhill, Donner Ski Ranch, Royal Gorge Cross Country, Granlibakken Resort, Diamond Peak and Soda Springs are all open at this time.
Spooner Lake Cross Country anticipates opening Monday or Tuesday. Ski Homewood opens Wednesday, Dec. 24.
