Two-Alarm Fire at Antioch Apartment Complex Damages Six Homes, Displaces 25 Residents

A two-alarm fire at an Antioch apartment complex destroyed six homes and displaced at least 25 residents early Saturday morning.

The fire, which caused an estimated $1 million worth of damage, was first reported around 7:15 a.m. at a complex on the 3100 block of Lone Tree Way, according to Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Robert Marshall.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw five apartments fully involved in flames, as well as many bystanders, Marshall said. Firefighters were able to contain the fire by 7:50 a.m., according to the fire protection district's Twitter page.

Two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and one of the two was eventually taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Marshall said.

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced families, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
