Drained Bank Accounts Follow Home Depot Breach

Some customers’ bank accounts have been drained as a result of the large data breach at Home Depot Inc., The Wall Street Journal reported. Criminals are also using stolen card information to buy prepaid cards, electronics and groceries, people familiar with the hacking attack told the newspaper. The Home Depot breach, a five-month attack on the company’s payment terminals, may have compromised 56 million cards, the company has said. Other companies that have been hacked include Target Corp., Neiman Marcus Group Ltd., the Supervalu Inc. grocery retail chain and the restaurant chain P.F. Chang’s China Bistro Inc.
