An industry leader in animal welfare and a trusted source for pet information will be in the Bay Area on Thursday, November 2 for Dogs, Cats, + Cannabis Hosted by Berkeley Humane Society.
This new forum is for pet owners to participate in the discussion on the potential dangers and benefits associated with administering cannabis to their animals suffering from health issues, which is something California veterinarians remain prohibited from discussing with their clients.
Speaker Dr. Gary Richter, MS, DVM, is an award-winning veterinarian at Holistic Veterinary Care and the Montclair Veterinary Hospital, and is also an expert in both medical and holistic treatment methods.
Dr. Richter attests, "Cannabis products for pets are legal and readily available throughout California. Veterinarians must be allowed to do what we are trained to do – provide recommendations for the safe and effective treatmentof pets."
"Pet owners and guardians are searching for solutions for their pets, but reliable information on cannabis treatment is hard to find," said Jeffrey Zerwekh, Berkeley Humane’s Executive Director. "This event will help startthe conversation in our community and help us get the answers we need for our animals."
"Berkeley is a leader in so many things." said Heidi Hill, Owner of Holistic Hound in Berkeley. "It is smart and timely to hold a public conversation about using all of the resources available to us to help pets that may be suffering."
