This Weekend: Hardly Strictly Bluegrass

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Promo

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass takes over the City this weekend and promises its biggest crowd and most diverse performers to date.

You want to see MC Hammer at the same fest with Joan Baez, the Indigo Girls and Trombone Shorty? That can be arranged. Other stars include folksy-rockers Jenny and Johnny, southerner Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys and the beloved Emmylou Harris.

All told, the event spans six stages and dozens of bands. Best of all, it's all completely free. Tons of food vendors will be on hand, and while alcohol won't be sold, you're welcome to bring you own. Dogs are welcome, too.

It all goes down Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Bring your bike and enjoy valet parking, or bring your car and park at Argonne or Lafayette Elementary Schools, where the $25 parking fee will go toward funding student services.

And of course you can always hop on Muni, if you enjoy playing that form of roulette.

About 750,000 fans are expected to show, so be ready for a crowd. Does Foursquare even have a swarm badge that big?
