AACSA Leadership Academy Class I

The AACSA Leadership Academy is designed to empower African American high school, collegiate, and adults
through a three-day leadership training weekend and year-long cohort program. The AACSA Leadership
Academy seeks to recruit, train and develop, provide interactive live workshops for the journey of Black servant
leaders by connecting real-life to reality for our participants with a pipeline into Silicon Valley career fields; a
place where tech and diversity meet, social justice, dreams and visions align; to increase Blacks presence in
civic engagement.
Highlights and Expected Outcomes

. Participants are then enrolled in our
year-long cohort program where they:
ā— Connect with mentors and engage in monthly community Service Projects
ā— Learn skills of understanding self-awareness and diversity in community
ā— Network and engage with Silicon Valley leaders from various organizations and companies
ā— Understand and appreciate leadership styles similar to and different from their own
ā— Engage in meaningful dialogue about the concept of leadership in the 21st century and beyond 2020,
usage of technology and social media platforms
ā— Develop skills related to participatory servant leadership, civic engagement, political awareness, and
social justice
ā— Learn about functionality of corporate, non-profit boards from hands-on experience, and virtual and
on-site visits
ā— Create solutions to Transportation, Housing, and Homelessness
Expenses:
The African American Community Service Agency, Knight Foundation, Silicon Valley Community Foundation,
and various donors will provide meals, tickets to events, travel and lodging accommodations, and more.
ā— Two-night stay at the Downtown San Jose Marriott (you will have a roommate)
ā— Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
ā— Ticket to attend the Silicon Valley Black Chamber of Commerce Blacks nā€™ Business and Blacks nā€™
Technology event
ā— Supplies, materials, business cards, and more
How to Apply:
Fill out the short pre-application via Google Forms. Once your pre-application has been submitted, the
committee will review for qualifications. If you are accepted, you will receive the full-length application for
submission no later than April 12, 2018 9:00 p.m.

Our emphasis is on African American high school and college students currently enrolled and in good standing
with their school of attendance.

The AACSA Leadership Academy seeks to recruit, train, and develop African American students in leadership skills to help drive forward their own career goals, along with increasing their civic engagement. 

The program begins with a 3-day leadership retreat on May 4, 5, and 6. Participants are then enrolled in our year-long cohort program where they:
