ZERO1 Biennial: Seeking Silicon Valley
Sept 12 – Dec 8, 2012 throughout the Bay Area
Opening Week: Sept 12-16 in downtown San Jose
Join us in re-imagining Silicon Valley. Inviting more than 150 artists from over 13 countries, the 2012 ZERO1 Biennial will present works at the forefront of media art – collaborating with local, regional, national and international cultural institutions and iconic Silicon Valley companies to showcase three months of exhibitions, events, and performances – in museums and galleries, in skywriting above San Francisco, in the streets and storefronts of Silicon Valley, on iPads and smartphones, and across the World Wide Web.
Come down to South 1st street in San Jose this week and participate in the opening events including a live performance by the International Space Orchestra, directed by Nelly Ben Hayoun at the ZERO1 Urban Screen on September 13th from 7pm-9pm, (e)MERGE the ZERO1 Street Festival on September 14th that fills three blocks of S. 1st Street with over 100 interactive art projects, film screenings, Gordon Biersch beer garden, food trucks, and more. Then return on Saturday and Sunday to hear artist talks, get a tour of the ZERO1 Garage, partner exhibitions, and performances.
The ZERO1 Biennial will run until December 8, 2012 throughout the Bay Area, featuring installations, interactive media, sculptures, online works, videos and performances by artists who are utilizing technology to create contemporary art in original and provocative ways.
