With Google and Apple already battling it out for ownership of your computer-enhanced living room TV, Microsoft is feeling a bit left behind. But not for long, if their rumored Xbox 360 plans are accurate.
Microsoft's reported plan is to create a "virtual cable operator" that would deliver channels of video over the internet for a monthly fee. You know, like cable.
Other options being tossed around include authorizing existing cable subscribers to get bonus content and functionality through their Xbos 360s and selling individual channels such as HBO and Showtime directly.
All of these plans are about a year off from becoming a reality, but there are definitely some interesting possibilities in there.
