Gil Scott Heron will bring his legendary poetry to Yoshi's San Francisco, 1330 Fillmore St., because the revolution will not be televised. The classic activist poet rose to fame through his spoken word performances and his politically charged lyrics during the 1960s and 1970s. He will perform with a live band tonight at 8.

On the opposite end of the artistic spectrum is the soothing sounds of pianist Thomas Ades, who brings his classical sound to the Herbst Theater, 401 Van Ness Ave. in San Francisco, tonight at 8.
