The Japanese American National Library (JANL) is sponsoring a public program about the history and experiences of Japanese and Asian Americans in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community. The two-hour program will be held on Saturday, September 16 in San Francisco's Japantown.

The progrm will feature Dr. Amy Sueyoshi, Community Grand Marshal of the 2017 San Francisco Pride Parade and San Francisco State University’s Associate Dean of the College of Ethnic Studies, Professor of Sexuality Studies, and Professor of Race and Resistance Studies. She is also a founding member of the GLBT History Museum.
Dr. Amy Sueyoshi will address history and experiences, her LGBTQ and civil rights activism, and her connections within diverse communities, including the Bay Area Japanese and Asian American communities. Additionally, she will reflect on her role as Community Grand Marshal of the 2017 San Francisco Pride Parade.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
