Suicide Blast Kills 4 in Afghanistan

Four people are dead after a suicide bomber blew up his vehicle outside a residential hotel in northern Afghanistan. An Afghan official reports that two other militants then stormed the Kunduz city hotel, firing at police for two hours. “When the bomber blew himself up, the explosion shook everything,” the official told the Associated Press. A police spokesman said German aid workers frequented the house, but it was unclear whether they were there at the time of the attack. The Taliban claimed responsibility, saying in a text to the Associated Press that the insurgents targeted a “German intelligence center and security company.” This is one of many attacks that have plagued Afghanistan in recent months, including an attack in May that killed Afghanistan’s head police commander and two German soldiers.
