The heat wave pummeling the Bay Area has peaked and cooler temperatures are expected Sunday, though still well above normal, the National Weather Service said.

While parts of the country experience severe weather the Bay Area is expected to get really gusty. 

Plan on low clouds being more widespread including inland to start Sunday.  A stronger sea breeze will drop temperatures a few more degrees Sunday into Monday. Rob Mayeda has the Microclimate Forecast.

Along with high surf continuing to batter Bay Area coastlines, residents can expect gusty winds, rain and possible coastal flooding into the weekend, forecasters said.

The Bay Area could see light rain later this week, but the forecast is for dry weather by the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
