San Jose's five mayoral candidates participated in a forum with the Vietnamese-American community at Evergreen Valley College on Sunday, April 13.
Mayoral candidates who participated included Supervisor Dave Cortese, Councilmember Rose Herrera, Councilmember Sam Liccardo, Vice Mayor Madison Nguyen, and Councilmember Pierluigi Oliverio.
As a city, San Jose is home to the largest Vietnamese-American community in the U.S. outside of Vietnam. Questions focused on key issues important to the community, included candidates' views on the minimum wage, diversity in city hiring, public safety, and the three words that would best describe each candidate's service if elected as mayor.
NBC Bay Area investigative reporter Vicky Nguyen moderated the debate.
