A judge could rule as soon as Thursday on a legal challenge involving the San Francisco Police lab drug-skimming scandal that could end up unraveling hundreds of drug cases.

The judge will decide whether San Francisco police and prosecutors withheld important information from defendants' attorneys about suspected thefts by a crime lab technician.

The legal challenge comes from an attorney representing a man accused of selling cocaine.

If the judge rules important information was withheld, hundreds more cases could be dismissed, adding to 250 cases already dismissed because of the scandal.
